Nick Surkamp

Director, Digital Transformation

Nick Surkamp, Director of Digital Transformation, is an effective change agent with deep expertise in robotic process automation, artificial intelligence, and intelligent automation.  He has experience guiding automation programs from pilot to high-performing automation factory, with a specific focus on IT policy, technology and vendor selection, and program design and optimization.

Nick leads MSI’s work supporting the General Services Administration's RPA Program and the Federal RPA Community of Practice.  Nick was a lead author of the recent Federal RPA Program Handbook (available at link) and he frequently consults and mentors emerging Federal RPA Programs..

With an ardent passion that can flirt with becoming annoying, Nick is committed to helping Federal Automation Programs leverage technology smartly.  This means the right technology applied to the right use cases.  It also means applying MSI’s lean methodologies to ensure all automation tools are applied to optimized processes.  Bill Gates’ famous maxim still holds - “Automation applied to an inefficient operation will magnify the inefficiency.”
